Beyond the Lions Den
Ken Shamrock-legendary martial artist, UFC Hall of Famer, Superfight Champion, King of the Pancrase, and WWF superstar-continues to dominate no-holds-barred ultimate fighting competitions with a career recode of 26-8-2. In this new book Ken shares the personal stories behind his wins and losses-from his feuds with Royce Gracie in Japan's Pancrase, and his run-ins with the WWF's Nasty Boys, to his victory over Kimo Leopoldo in UFC 48.
As the founder of the Lion's Den gym in San Diego, Shamrock has trained many of the world's top bare-knuckle fighters, including Guy Mezger, Tra "Trauma" Telligman, Mickey "The Eastside Assassin" Burnett, and Jerry Bohlander.
Now, Beyond the Lion's Den presents Shamrock's popular "shoot fighting" style-often described as a street version of Brazilian Jujitsu. With over 500 color photographs revealing the secrets behind 70 of Shamrock's most effective techniques, this book presents a complete and ultra-efficient submission fighting system.
KEN SHAMROCK dominates no-holds-barred martial arts competition in both American and Asia. He was the first Superfight Champion of the Ultimate Fighting Championship, the first Kind of Pancrase (the pioneering Japanese fighting circuit), and is a former WWF superstar. Shamrock has been a guest on Late Night with Conan O'Brien and Larry King Live, and has been featured in Time, Sports Illustrated, Black Belt and Muscle and Fitness.
ERICH KRAUSS is the author of eight books including Brawl: A Behind-the-Scenes Look at Mixed Martial Arts Competition (ECW Press, 2002) and Little Evil: One Ultimate Fighter's Rise to the Top (ECW Press, 2003). Krauss moved to Pataya, Thailand, in 1997 to train in Muay Thai kickboxing. He now trains at Ken Shamrock's world-renowned Lion's Den in San Diego.
